Frequently Asked Questions

Q1. What is the minimum age to apply for a retirement visa?

A, In Thailand you will need to be 50 or above years old.

Q2. What documents are required for a retirement visa?

A, You will require passport with a non-o visa and we advise 21 days remaining on the existing Visa. You will require a Thai bank account With 80,000Thai Bht or an income of 65,000 Bht Per month. Will also require a TM 30 and a residence certificate all of which we can help facilitate.

 

Q3. How long does it take to obtain a retirement visa?

A, This can be obtained usually within a two-week period depending on all the required documents being submitted at the same time.

Q4. How long does it take to get a tourist Visa extension And what documents are required?

A, We require a passport With the TM 30 and usually it is the next day depending on holidays and weekends please always check that your Visa is not going to expire on Saturday or Sunday or a Thai national holiday as immigration is only open Monday to Friday as it is now frowned upon to overstay your Visa and incurs a 500 Bht daily charge.

Q5. Do you offer Visa services for Thai partners to visit foreign nationals' countries?

A, Yes we can assist in most cases depending on which country please contact us and we bill be happy to give you a free and honest consultation as to whether you will get the Visa for the country you require.

Q6. Can you renew a British or Irish passport without me leaving Thailand?

A, Yes it is possible to renew both these licenses they will need To be taken to the embassy and collected by us and will take on average Between two and three weeks a certified receipt will be issued by us for your passport and documents.

Q7. How long does it take to change over foreign national driving license to Thai licence?

A, If your existing license is in the English Language it will take 7 to 10 days but if your license is in a different language to English we will need to take it to the relevant embassy for translation and the official stamp it will therefore take on average between 2 to 3 weeks.

 

Q8. Do I have to take physical driving test?

A, Providing you have an existing license the answer is no but you will be required to take an eye test which involves picking out the three colours of the traffic lights and depending on which centre you do this there is also a test called depth perception which is very simple and takes about 30 seconds along with an automated brake test you just sit on the chair with a foot-pedal in front of you and when the light changes from green to red do you do emergency stop.

Q9. How do I get an international driving license?

A, First you must have a one-year Visa you must also have a five year Thai driving license you can then apply for a Thai international license. To get a five year license you must first get a two year one when there is only six months remaining on your TW year license you can apply for a five year license but must also have a one year Visa.

Q10. How do I change over the registration of my vehicle and obtain tax and insurance and what documents are required?

A, To change the registration of your vehicle to new ownership takes on average one week cars over seven years old will be required to go to the test station motorcycles over five years to the test station. The documents we will require will be a passport with a minimum of 10 days remaining on your Visa a residence certificate and a TM30 should you not have these documents we can obtain them on your behalf and are included in the service.
